This Week:

- in language arts this week we continued looking at non-fiction text features and what they are. We also worked on building our sentences so that we have complete sentences with punctuation that make sense.

- in math we finished up our graphing unit. We will next be starting patterns and equations.

- in science we learned about the four spheres that make up our earth's systems. We also started an experiment with pumpkins. It should be interesting (an disgusting) to see what happens to them. We also started learning about computer science and how computers work. We also learned about Damien Hirst and his use of dots in his art work. We combined this with our learning of binary to create some art work that has a code using dots, binary code and our own colour code.

- in social studies we continued mapping and citizenship

Notices:

- we are all hoping the strike does not affect us too much and there will be an agreement soon!

- At first, the information that came out stated that students and teachers would not be able to access Google classroom and accounts, but today they released further information that stated students WILL be able to access their Google classroom account. I however will NOT be able to, so I will not be able to access any emails, respond to comments opr work turned in, or help if students have any login issues.

- students login to Google using their username@educbe.ca and their password (which is usually their first name with a capital and year of birth- no spaces).

- I have uploaded a few assignments and resources onto our Google Classroom. These are NOT manditory or required, but just if students wish to have something to do. I also sent home their adding and subtracting booklets to work and practice with.

- inline skating will resume when we return!

Welcome Back to School! We are all so excited to be back at school! We have had a super week and a half so far and look forward to a great year ahead of us.  Some notes for this year: We will have library every Thursday as our schedule allows. Please make sure library books are kept in a safe place and returned when you are finished with them. Please do not bring toys or devices to school unless absolutely necessary. We would not like anything to get lost or stolen and they can sometimes be a distraction to our learning.  We don't send a lot of homework home, but if students do not finish something, it will be sent home with them at the end of the week to be completed at home. Check the blog for any notifications of finish up work. Students are asked to be reading 20 minutes a night and practice their basic math facts as much as possible.  This Week: - we had a great week coming back and getting to know each other!
