  This Week: - this week in language arts we worked on completing our poems in our visual journals - in math we worked on area. We created a pixel person and calculated the area of each portion of our person.  - in social studies we learned about the structure of parliament. We talked about how we vote for members of parliament and who becomes the Prime Minister. We also have been applying some of our discussions on government to our Minecraft community and how we would like our community be governed and how we solve conflicts and different within a community.  - in science we have started a stop-motion project based on an animal or plant we created.  - today we had a great farewell assembly! This Week: - in language arts this week, we finished up our novel Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing. We also worked on some free verse poetry. Our Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing booklets are due Monday. - in math, we finished up our money unit and had a quiz. We are still working on multiplying and dividing large numbers. We have a quiz on multiplication and long division on Monday. We have a practice booklet that went home this week that we can use to help us practice for our quiz.  - in science we looked at the different types of sensory organs that animals and plants have that allow them to respond to the environment.  - in social studies we finished up our learning about Confederation and started talking about some of the impacts that Confederation had on Canada and us now.  - this week we also finished up our Alien Inline Skating residency. This Week: - in language arts we worked on finishing up our narrative writing. We talked about how we can add showing not telling, dialogue and paragraphs to make our writing better. We also continued reading our novel Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing. for poetry we looked at free verse poetry with no rhyming and rhythm. We created imagry, found and black out poems. - in math we worked on long division. We also worked on decimals as money and talked a little about Canadian currency and where we keep our money.  - in science we looked at the structures of animals at the zoo. We also learned about the structures and fucntions of plants. We dissected a flower to see all of it's structures and how it functions for reproduciton.  - in social studies we researched about the some of the key figures that were involved in Confederation and the creation of Canada.  Next Week:   - we have inline skating MONDAY, WEDNESDAY and THURSDAY.
