This Week:
- in language arts this week we finished up our look at genres by doing our Book Tasting. We went to different tables and were able to read some different genres.
- in math we continued with graphing by looking at how we can collect data and then represent it in a bar, dot or pictograph.
- in science we've been learning about how earth's systems work to help organisms survive. We have been learning about the seasons, the salmon run, rivers, and hibernation work togehter to help with the survivial of brown bears. We have been following along and voting during Fat Bear Week, which is a challenge put on by the US National Parks Service to draw attention to the bears in Alaska. If you would like to vote on the final four visit https://explore.org/fat-bear-week.
- in social studies we have been learning about mapping terms and doing some mapping of our world and continents. We have also been learning about residential schools and were able to participate in our Orange Shirt Day assembly on Friday.
Next Week:
- no school on Monday and Tuesday of this week
- library on Thursday
- Bring your bear stuffie to celebrate the end of Fat Bear Week on Wednesday!
We're excited to let you know that Alien Inline Skating will be starting a residency in our gymnasium for Grades 3, 4 and EES students starting Wednesday, October 1st. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to build confidence, coordination, and have a ton of fun while learning to inline skate.
- Students are encouraged to bring a CSA-approved helmet (bike helmets are best). I will post the schedule so you know what days to bring in helmets.
- Please do not send full-face helmets, football helmets, or hockey helmets.
- If your child does not have a helmet, one will be provided for them.
Finish Up:
- World and North America Maps
- Graphing worksheet
