  This Week: - this week in language arts we continued working on paragraph writing. We also continued our novel Harry Potter, - in math we are working on factoring numbers, multiples, prime and composite numbers. We have also been working on our multiplication basic facts to help us. We have some finish up work to do. Ask me if I have any! - in social studies we started learning about the fur trade and its impact on Canada.  - no school tomorrow, Friday Jan. 30th Next Week: - library on Thursday - please return any Be Brave Hitmen forms Finish Up: - math primes, composites, factors and multiples booklet- due Monday

  This Week: - in language arts we worked on paragraphs and how to write paragraphs. We also continued reading our novel Harry Potter. We used the novel to help us learn and practice characters traits this week. We looked at character traits are and how they can be inferred by a character's actions, thoughts, feelings and dialogue. We also looked at text structure and how writers structure a text to make it easier for us to understand.   - we also looked at possessive nouns in word work and what the main idea of a paragraph or text is.  - in math we continued our practice of what factors, multiples, prime and composite numbers are. So of us are really struggling because we are not familiar with our multiplication basic facts. Most of us also have some finish up work to do for Monday. Look for the starred pages in our work booklet.  - in science we talked about the sun and the importance of the sun for earth's systems. We also talked about why we have seasons. - ...

This Week: - in language arts we started looking at r-influenced vowels in word work. We also talked about some goals we would like to have for this new year and came up with one word that could inspire us this year.  We also have started our graphic novel fast for the month of January. No reading graphic novels in school for one whole month! - in science we talked and learned about the different ways we dispose of waste and then we discussed what our waste management program would look like for our own community.  - in math we reviewed time and started to talk about how we can talk about time using fractions, ie.- quarter to, quarter past and half past - in social studies we learned some of the vocabulary around colonialism.  Next Week: - library Thursday Finish Up:   - procedural writing
